"Drowning"
2010
i don’t remember how i got into this mess. all light seemed to leave, along with the wide open spaces and the smiling atmosphere. it’s dark, dreary and cold. i can’t begin to think about how i got into here. i didn’t fall, nor did i walk into this purposely. that doesn’t make sense.
my mind registers that i am in water. dark, cold, murky water. i try to open my eyes but they burn. ocean. pacific? atlantic? indian? arctic? does it matter?
my mouth gasps for that breathe of life, but is cut off by more salty water. i wonder if anyone is aware that the sea can bring and take life away, but then again, it’s a public breeding ground and a bathroom. brilliant.
i come to the conclusion that i’m most likely going to die here. my arms and legs refuse to push to the surface, and i’m pushed back, back, back, further into the dreaded sea. my lungs tighten up and my nose refuses to take in more of the burning sensation.
and so i tumble to the bottom
